Originally born and raised in Cardiff I have since lived in several cities both in the UK and abroad, the coldest of which was Sheffield. I now live in Falmouth with my dog, a barmy boxer called Tia Maria.
I belong to an active local writing group called Moon Hut, where we get up to all sorts of things. I've run writing workshops for the members, and we've wangled ourselves a regular slot in Cornwall's annual Wonderful Words Festival. Last year that involved delivering an evening of public readings at the local library. Thankfully, there was plenty of wine.
I have fifteen years of teaching experience, ten years of which I spent in international schools in Asia. I worked mainly in Hong Kong and Bangkok and every day was intense and aromatic. Currently I am studying for my Masters in Professional Writing at University College Falmouth, so it's amazing that I find time to do anything else really, but I do.
As a result of travelling extensively I have developed a strong interest in other cultures, and an insatiable curiosity about the way other people go about doing things. Some might call that nosiness, but I ignore those people: as a feature writer it's a personality trait to be proud of. I also love writing creatively regardless of genre. Novels, short stories, poems - all touch me in different ways.
Oh, and I've also taught English as a foreign language both abroad and in my home town of Cardiff. No, not to the locals, cheeky.
